This weekend I was lucky enough to go out on patrol with the Southend Street Pastors, volunteers from different churches who care about the safety and wellbeing of their community.

The Street Pastors not only provide practical help for those in need, but will stop and engage with anyone who might just need a friendly chat or advice. They explained to me how they give help and guidance to accessing support services and keep an eye on the homeless and other vulnerable people on our streets.

It seemed especially appropriate that I could witness the good work that the Street Pastors do as we enter Holy Week, the most sacred week in the Christian calendar.
