4 Signs Your Drink has Been Spiked- How to Tell if Your Drink Has Been Spiked

Your drink being spiked is never your fault. It's always the fault of the spiker. Unfortunately drink spiking does happen, so it a good idea to be aware. So it’s best to not leave your drink unattended. If you need leave your drink behind and get a fresh one. Look out for your friends and keep an eye on each other drinks too. But what are the signs that your drink has been spiked before drinking it?

Four Signs Your Drink Has Been Spiked:

If your drink is bubbling and fizzing even more than normal or than before. This can happen because some substances will react with the drink and this makes the drink fizz and bubble. This may be harder to spot if the drink is already carbonated.

The ice sinking to the bottom of the glass. If the ice was floating before and now it has sunk to the bottom. Don't drink it get a fresh drink.

Colour change. If the colour has changed this could be another sign your drink has been tampered with. Some substances can change the colour of the drink, to make it lighter, darker or even a completely different colour. One common spiking drug can turn the drink blue.

A cloudy drink can also be a sign your drink has been spiked. If your drink was clear and now it is foggy or cloudy this could be a sign something has been put in it.




If your think or notice one or more of these things can be noticed in your drink it is best to get a fresh drink, and do not risk your health or safety. Look out for your friends drinks too and keep everyone safe and having a good time. If you think you have been spiked, talk to the bar staff, if you start to feel symptoms get checked out by a medical professional at a hospital and make sure you stay with someone. You can also reduce the risks by bringing a drink cover or a drink testing kit.
